Free Vision Screenings Bring Eyecare to South Boston

The Vision Council Foundation & 20/20 Onsite Host Community Event at the Boston Public Library

Last month, The Vision Council Foundation teamed up with 20/20 Onsite to bring free vision screenings to the Boston Public Library’s Grove Hall branch. Residents of all ages stopped by to get their eyes checked, learn about eye health, and explore careers in the optical field.

The event was made possible thanks to 20/20 Onsite’s innovative mobile vision clinic, which delivered accessible, no-cost eyecare directly to the community. Screenings included checks for distance, reading, and color vision. For those who needed further care or vision correction, referrals to local eyecare providers ensured that no one was left without a path forward.

The Vision Council Foundation also provided free educational materials on eye health and career opportunities in the optical industry. These resources are available for download here, part of a new campaign See What Matters, an ongoing commitment to making eye health a priority for everyone, everywhere.

This pop-up clinic is just one example of how The Vision Council Foundation is working to break down barriers to care. Through future events and partnerships with mission-driven organizations like 20/20 Onsite, the Foundation aims to bring both immediate services and long-term support to communities across the country.
