Program Overview
The Vision Council Foundation provides $6,000 scholarships and reimbursement of funds for certification and state exam fees to students pursuing an associate degree in ophthalmic dispensing at a number of accredited opticianry schools.
Upon each student’s graduation, The Vision Council Foundation will provide additional support, including free registration and discounted continuing education at both Vision Expo East and West, and complimentary membership to industry opticianry organizations following graduation.
How to Apply for a Scholarship
The Vision Council Foundation partners with many opticianry programs within the United Opticians Association to help fund scholarships. Interested students must apply for the Opening Your Eyes Scholarship directly through their school. Please reach out to the financial aid office or scholarship department at your chosen university for more information on available opportunities.
Participating Schools
To reach more potential applicants in more communities across the United States, The Vision Council Foundation partners with schools within the UOA that administer scholarships to students pursuing a degree in ophthalmic dispensing.
Scholarship applications will be housed on each participating school’s website and scholarship recipients are selected through the participating school’s foundations. Eligible students must be interested in pursuing an associate degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing at a participating UOA member institution. Each scholarship includes $6,000 per year, as well as reimbursement of certification and state exam fees. Scholarships are renewable each year upon successful completion of all course work.
